10 Tips for making a music video
These are some notes from a music video workshop the media group went to in November. We were given a lecture on how to make music videos and the history of them by an experienced Media Teacher. This was in the morning session and in the afternoon session we pitched our music video idea to a producer and director.
1.Choose Tracks
Choose tracks very wisely and stick to them. Valuable time is wasted by taking long decisions on deciding on the music you want to do
2.Write Treatment
Plan out what your group is going to accomplish.
3.Plan
4.Blog
Write down everything on the blog. Every single idea needs to be documented to show examiners how much your idea has evolved.
5.Know your equipment
Loads of time is wasted on set trying to figure out how to work cameras, lights etc. Any problems with the equipment should be sorted out before filming.
6.Shoot
Start filming early. Don't wait too long to start filming as the editing itself will actually take the most time
7.Organize footage
Organize the footage into scenes. You should have used markers to show when the next scene change is.
8. Sync up performances and organize whole video first
9.Get Feedback
Tell your family, friends basically anyone about the film you have made. Don't forget to tell them to critique your video clearly and harshly so that you know what exactly to edit to make your video better.
10.Analysis
Evaluate your music video
